Six Reasons for Not Spending Time in God’s Word – Part IV

January 25

“If you abide in my word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” John 8:31-32

“I have my doubts about the Bible,” or “I don’t believe the Bible” and similar reasons to this are another common reason people give for not studying the scriptures. I can understand these somewhat, having been an atheist before becoming a Christian. But for true Christians to feel this way, I think there is something wrong. God’s Spirit within a true believe does not produce this type of attitude, I don’t think. But we need not question a single thing in the scriptures, and I would argue that true scientific and archaeological evidence, not the carefully filtered and hyped kind that the world uses to try to get us to believe philosophical theories (I am specifically referring to evolution, which is based on the unproven presupposition that matter and energy created themselves and in a universe devoid of God organized itself by random chance into multitudes of incomprehensibly complex, self-replicating living, cognitive beings; and after 150 years of trying to prove this happened, scientists still haven’t even come close to demonstrating that it really happened or is happening, and on the contrary, they keep coming up with more and more fundamental, scientific challenges to the theory that show more and more its implausibility and stunning improbability), supports creation and the Biblical account very nicely. Try asking God to help you with this one and see the truth.

I have spent over thirty years working among some of the top scientists and engineers of our day in one of the premier global corporations. I have grappled with and examined the evidence of the experts in support of evolution as well as the multitudes of evidence against it. I have a brain and can think for myself and hold my own in interactions with the best. Not that I am as expert as they are, but I can look at the data they are looking at and understand the basic assumptions that go into their interpretations and conclusions, and there are a lot of them. In the case of evolution, there are way too many unproven assumptions and way too much hand waving and bullying going on. It is assumed to be true, mainly because it is the only God-excluding theory they have that has even the remotest plausibility of being possible, that is of course if you ignore the incomprehensibly complex problem and infinitesimally small probability of even the first cell of life arising from non-living matter. The whole thing is absurd, yet the world tries to make faith in a Creator the absurdity, even though that is where the evidence points!

Anyway, there is a lot of solid scientific evidence demonstrating the impossibility of evolution and the necessity of a creator. Furthermore, if you care to accept it, there is significantly more evidence supporting a young age for the earth than there is for a millions of years age. (See www.answersingenesis.org and www.icr.org ) Examine all the evidence carefully. Don’t side with the majority opinion just because they have the microphone and get lots of people talking up their position, especially when that majority is decidedly anti-God and interprets all their findings through that lens. Really dig into the assumptions that go into the conclusions that are presented. Think for yourself. Let God reveal His truth to you.
