“How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word. With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments. Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119:9-11)
Continuing on from yesterday with our list of helpful verses to keep in mind, the next step is to put these in table form. (Note: you can put these in a table or use a list format or whatever format is easiest for you to read and capture your attention. I recommend a table simply because I think the box format breaks it up for me and makes it easier for me to digest the information. But the format is not important. What is important, crucial, is that you put these verses into a format that you can review easily day after day.) Below is an example of what your table might look like:
Reference | Helpful Verses to Keep in Mind |
Mt 5:28 | “But I say to you that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” JESUS SAID THIS!!! |
Gal 5:19, 21 | “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality…those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” |
1 Co 10:8-9 | “Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents.” |
1 Co 6:18 | “FLEE IMMORALITY. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.” |
1 Co 6:19-20 | “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body.” |
Eph 2:3 | “Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.” |
Col 3:5-6 | “Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as DEAD to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is on account of these things that the wrath of God will come,” |
Rev 22:15 | “Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.” (Immoral persons will be excluded from heaven!!! I have to help them, not join them!!!!) |
Note how I used bold text, underlines, italics, etc. to emphasize certain words of the verses. I even added some comments at the end of some of them. I recommend that you do the same type of things on your table. I recommend this for two reasons. First, we will be laminating these tables and keeping them handy for regular, daily future reference. Just having verse after verse is hard on the eyes and boring. Before too long, we will stop reviewing these verses. So highlighting them in various ways helps to break up the monotony. Second, highlights help us quickly zero in on the main points of the verse, making it easier to remember and possibly easier to memorize the entire verse, which is also recommended.
So please start working on your scripture table as shown above, and tomorrow we will show more helpful verses to add to our list.
